Scoring
Marathon scores are calculated using the current Mahjong Time formula, which protects a player's strongest results while still rewarding consistent improvement. The system compares two values: the player's Top-10 Average, based on their best 10 consecutive games, and their Overall Average, based on all Marathon games played. If the Overall Average is higher than the Top-10 Average, the final score is calculated as (Top-10 Average + Overall Average) ÷ 2. If the Overall Average is lower, the final score remains the Top-10 Average, so continued play will not reduce a player's best earned score. A one-time bonus of +0.6 points is also applied once a player has completed 10 games, helping reward players who participate more consistently. The Marathon's annual winner is determined by the player who accumulates the most Rank Points from their best four seasons.
Final Ranking = 1000 * (N - P) / (N - 1), where N is the total players with at least 4 games, and P is your position.
The overall marathon victor is determined by the highest Rank Points from the best 4 of 5 seasons.
Resolving Ties
In case of a tie, the player with more games played during the marathon ranks higher. If still tied, the higher Mahjong Time rating prevails.
Game Disqualification
Tables where a player is absent for 50 or more moves are disqualified, with fees refunded to active players.
Player Disqualification
Leaving a table for another game? Exit the current table first. Absence for more than 50 moves may lead to temporary or permanent disqualification from the marathon.
Tournament Organizers reserve the right to disqualify players at their discretion for any future events organized by Mahjong Time.
Participants agree to the MahjongTime Terms and Conditions.
