Announcing the American Mah Jongg Marathon 2023
We are excited to host the American Mah Jongg Marathon for another year, following the success of our past marathons since 2016. The marathon is a one-year-long competition divided into five seasons and is played using the American Mah Jongg rules.
Every year, we have the honor of welcoming over 1,100 players from 40 countries to participate in this thrilling event. We hope to continue this tradition and welcome even more players to join us in 2023.

Marathon Season Bonus Prize Announcement
Get ready to run! This marathon season just got even more exciting with the addition of a $150 bonus prize, bringing the total to $300. To claim your share, simply be the first-place winner of each marathon season and post a screenshot or video of your game(s), along with a comment, on any major social media platform at least one week before the end of the season. Don't worry if you don't take first place, the next qualifying player down the ranking will still have the chance to receive this extra prize. So, lace up your shoes and let's race

Score
a. Winner of the Season:Score = (Average TS + Average TS Best 10 Games)/2
Average TS - the average score accumulated during the Season.
Average TS Best 10 Games - the average score of player's highest scores during 10 consecutive games.
Rank = 1000*(N-P)/(N-1)
N - the number of players with a minimum of 4 games in the marathon
P - players position in the marathon
b. The ultimate winner of the marathon is the player who scores the most Rank Points of her/his best 4 seasons out of 5 seasons total.
Ties
When two or more players tie for a position, the player who has more games played in the marathon ranks higher in the Marathon results.In the unlikely event that two or more players tie in both scores and games played, the player who has a higher Mahjong Time rating is ranked higher.
Game Disqualification
A table in which one or more players is absent for 50 or more moves is automatically disqualified and the entry fees are returned to the remaining players.Player Disqualification
If you no longer wish to wait in a Marathon Table, or want to accept an invitation to a different game - leave your current table first before accepting any invitation.
a. Temporary SuspensionThe participants of the tournament receive up to two temporary 72-hour suspensions from entering the Marathon games when the marathon players are absent from their tables for more than 50 moves during the first two rounds of the tournament match.
b. Permanent Disqualification
The participants of the competition are permanently excluded from entering the Marathon games for the whole season due to their absence in the marathon for the third time.
Please note that Tournament Organizers reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify and ban players from any future tournament or event organized by Mahjong Time.
